Iced pumpkin cookies. Hoodies. Thanksgiving. The colors changing on the leaves. Bonfires. Great hiking weather. Cute boots and jackets. All of these are reasons why I love fall. There’s just one small problem…I know that winter is right around the corner! LOL.
Listen, I do not like cold weather. And because I know that winter is going to slide in like a person I’ve been avoiding, fall feels like that guy that you really like taking you to a nice dinner and then throwing bad news at you. But maybe I’m just dramatic. Andddd I don’t like when people complain so I’m done! That’s why I don’t like fall.
Back to why I love fall…I feel like when God made fall, He was just showing off because He wanted to show us how beautiful change can be. Take the photo above: I love watching the seasons change from summer to fall and remembering the beautiful leaves that were on the trees and my summer memories. There’s something so delightful about hearing the leaves crunch under your shoes.
And don’t even get me started on the iced pumpkin cookies. Those are so tasty! I had some about 2 weeks from Smith Farm Market and baby when I tell you that they were GOOD…! Please check out the market! They brought ’em out a little before fall technically starts but I *clap* was *clap* not *clap* mad *clap*. And since I moved to Ohio, I now support pumpkin pie (although I’ll probably always be true to my Southern Black self and stand up for sweet potatoes!) and I’m [cautiously] looking forward to the Circleville Pumpkin Show which returns this year! If I do make it out there, I’m going to be masked up! Mercy!
Hoodies, hiking, and bonfires: I love the cozy feeling that comes with throwing on a hoodie and taking a hike to look at the fall foliage with friends before settling in at the bonfire. *Sigh* And let’s not forget the s’mores! And fall is perfect cuddle weather so I guess it’s not so bad!
Thanksgiving…this holiday might as well be the end of fall for me, but it’s one of my favorite holidays. I love spending time with my family around sleep-inducing comfort foods and too many laughs and desserts. This is the dearest part of fall for me and one of the reasons why I like this time of year so much. I’m looking forward to [safely] spending time with loved ones this year and embracing my love/hate relationship with fall.
