I first started blogging in 2011 to share my thoughts and to share events, or happenings, from my life (on topics ranging from what happened in a church service to how something as familiar as a paycheck can be related to the Gospel) and to provide sometimes humorous, inspirational, and thought-provoking posts that I hoped would ultimately and always point people to Christ.
I consistently and inconsistently wrote nearly 200 posts on that blog until 2017. Then, one day I just stopped.
In 2018, I started making Facebook videos because I’ve always made church jokes…I just didn’t really share them beyond close friends and family. One day I just decided to “hit record” and share the stuff that was on my mind. I described it to my roommate as “the ability to preach myself happy black-church-style”. She thought it was a gift. The more I thought about it, the more I realized she was right. Then other people started co-signing as I made more and more videos! I was shocked that people liked them so much! I thought, “Wow, Lord! You are really working through me to bless people!”
Another side of the coin is that I’m not always lively [insert shocked face]. I’m actually an introvert. With that in mind, I reflect…a lot. So I started blogging again this month because a) I had plenty of time with the “Stay-At-Home” orders sweeping the nations and b) I had a lot to say.
Some of these reflections will be pretty calm, and some of them might be lively and like a “let’s dive deeper” after one of my videos…because let’s be clear: I almost ALWAYS have something to say…even if I don’t say it aloud.
