I LOVE spending time with my family! They are the silliest cast of characters I know. They were the ones who taught me to shape stories and engage an audience.
We got together recently to celebrate my dad’s (center) 60th birthday. I was so excited to see them because I don’t get to see them regularly since I live in a different part of the country. The pandemic forced me to reflect on how little time I spent with my family and made me want to visit them more. I wore my mask and tried to stay as safe as possible so that I would be able to make the trip and see them.
My dad has played such a critical role in the person (and personality) I’ve become. I often tell people that I am the best of both of my parents; my mom’s practical, down-to-earth, laugh-out-loud, introverted, encouraging sides and my dad’s kind, helpful, friendly, chatty, let’s-be-road-dawgs, extroverted sides make up the person that is me.
Pictured on the far left is my brother…technically, my “little” brother because he’s a few years younger. Even in my 4 inch, heeled boots from Cato Fashions, he is still taller than me now!
Not everyone can say that their brother always has their back, laughs with them, travels with them, works hard, owns their own home, and is crazy-funny. When we were kids, he was really quiet and seemingly mostly talked at home. I never knew that he’d grow up to be such a talker. I also didn’t know that he’d grow up to be a person that I would be so proud of. He brought his wife and sons (not pictured) to celebrate.
Here’s to the blessing of family! Praise the Lord!
